GLOSSARY : Verisity

Verisity is the name of the company which designed and sold the Specman HVL for a number of years (1996-2005).  Verisity was originally called Inspec (1995-1996), when they were a little company, before they found that a company with that name already existed.

One of the key innovators in Verisity, and currently the CTO of Cadence’s verification division is Yoav Hollander.

Verisity had one of the most interesting IPOs. It went public during an industry downturn, and was successful in achieving a significant climb (before going back to its IPO price-range).

During it’s short life Verisity managed to acquire a number of companies including Surefire Verification which designed the SureCov code-coverage tool, and Axis Systems which had interesting emulator technology.  (due to the Axis acquisition Verisity changed their logo in 2004).

Due to poor taste in Logos, Verisity was forced to sell itself.

Verisity was purchased by Cadence Design Systems in April for 2005.
